A Story of Two Developers: A Human-centered Design Approach to Standards-based Development for COVID-19
Session Chair: John Zgambo
Tuesday, December 6, 10:30 am-11:45 am ET, Room 3 Salons D-E
The Digital Solutions to Support Antigen RDT Rollout (dSTARR) project is focused on developing standards and enhancing interoperability of patient and diagnostic data collection platforms, driving the incorporation of these standards into leading mobile health tools to support health care workers with COVID-19 antigen rapid diagnostic testing in low and middle-income settings. The dSTARR project is anchored in a human-centered design approach with the PATH Living Labs team supporting the development and evaluation of solutions through the engagement of healthcare workers in Zambia, Senegal and India. The interactive panel discussion at the 2022 Global Digital Health Forum will allow for a critical discussion of how to approach standards-based tool development, build in human-centered design into each process, and how the global health community can leverage easy-to-use documentation to uptake interoperable digital health tools.

[VIRTUAL SESSION] Digital Solutions for Vaccination Service Delivery for COVID-19 and Beyond
Chair: Heidi Good
Wednesday, Dec 7, 9am EAT / 1am ET; Register here to attend
The 60-minute interactive workshop will engage participants in hands-on learning and sharing by highlighting the COVID-19 Primer (set to be published in January 2023) and orienting participants to a framework of use cases for COVID-19 vaccine delivery systems. Through quick examples, the session will illustrate how countries have adapted existing digital tools to meet COVID-19 immunization needs and unlocked value from data and digital systems via interoperable solutions.
The session will then provide a walkthrough of key considerations for digital health implementations before transitioning to virtual breakout rooms, engaging participants to brainstorm considerations for enabling environment assessment as it relates to two preferred use cases from the Primer.

Beyond pandemic response: How donors and investors are co-developing and co-financing digital health for stronger, sustainable health systems
Session chair: Amanda BenDor
Wednesday, December 7th, 12:00-1:00PM, MAIN STAGE (will stream) Salons A/B/J/K
Over the past two and a half years, the world has seen firsthand how digital tools can be used to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, from innovative artificial intelligence chatbots available to answer questions 24 hours a day, to improved tracking of individual patients who receive multi-dose vaccines. Existing tools have been adapted and scaled in countries, accelerating how digital technologies can respond to needs through the many phases of the global pandemic. While making sure resources are available to support the ongoing needs of COVID-19 and other epidemic and pandemic threats, donors and investors are also working to support countries to harness these digital advances beyond the pandemic, integrating improved digital tools to strengthen all facets of the health system. This session aligns with other donor coordination panels proposed for the Forum (i.e. sessions proposed by DICE and USAID) and will bring a specific lens on partnership and alignment broader than the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tessa Lennemann, GIZ
Sherri Haas, USAID
