Digital Square streamlines governance in line with evolving landscape
NOTICE: Digital Square has made the decision to dissolve its advisory board, effective January 1, 2024. This decision follows months of careful consideration by Digital Square’s Executive Leadership team and is fully endorsed by PATH’s Chief Executive Officer and President.
The entire Digital Square team, including leadership both past and present, is thankful for the ambassadorship of the advisory board members and the profound role they played in the initiative’s growth over the last six years. The insight and expertise that the board has provided over the years are a large part of the reason that the initiative has been able to do its impactful work.
However, since the advisory board was created in 2017, much has changed both in the digital health ecosystem and with Digital Square's needs. Initially, the board was designed to help shape Digital Square’s vision and provide input on specific decisions; for example, by ratifying selections on Global Goods Notice processes. This process has since evolved to include a thorough review by two expert bodies, the Peer Review Committee (PRC) and Investment Review Committee (IRC), thereby rendering the board's services less critical going forward.
Digital Square leaders have always strived to make organizational processes more inclusive, transparent, and democratic. While the way Digital Square seeks guidance may be changing, its mission and the intent behind its governance model are not. Staff will continue to rely on input from trusted advisors, peer organizations, and experts in the countries where we work to guide decisions. This change merely reflects the project’s evolving needs and resources. The leadership team expects minimal to no impact of this change on Digital Square’s functions.
Digital Square sincerely thanks all current and past board members for their dedicated service and looks forward to another year of supporting cutting-edge digital health innovation in 2024.
