Digital Square featured as a key network partner of the Global Initiative on Digital Health

Today marked the official launch of the Global Initiative on Digital Health (GIDH), an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) designed to support the implementation of the Global Strategy on Digital Health 2020–2025. GIDH is a network managed by WHO that will act as a knowledge hub, coordinator, and neutral broker to assure quality support for global digital health transformation.

Digital Square has been supporting the inception of GIDH since March 2023, when it was established as one of the key deliverables of India’s G20 Presidency.

In a webinar today celebrating the launch, Digital Square’s Executive Director, Dr. Bilal Mateen, was featured as a speaker alongside other key partners from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, Transform Health, and USAID. In a short video, Dr. Mateen emphasized how GIDH will play an important role in renewing the focus of the development sector on country-led digital health transformation—a core tenet of Digital Square’s strategy. Said Dr. Mateen, “I see GIDH’s convening mandate as a key opportunity to strengthen global advocacy around the use of digital health innovations.”
